María Fernanda Restrepo was born in 1977 in Quito, Ecuador. She graduated in 2000 from the Universidad San Francisco de Quito in the areas of audiovisual communication and journalistic communication. She worked for 3 years in the magazine program "La Televisión" from Ecuavisa. She has been a professor of editing and camera for 2 years at the San Francisco University of Quito. She traveled to Barcelona (2003) where she completed a master's degree in Documentary Direction at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and a postgraduate degree in photography direction at ESCAC. She has collaborated for the Latino newspaper in Spain and has been invited as an editorial writer in some print and digital media. He co-directs the production company Escala Gris Estudio Visual, which has been producing and directing all kinds of documentaries with social and human themes for 15 years, as well as institutional documentaries. Along with Escala Gris, he has also co-directed and produced several documentary series programs for various television channels, including the educational channel Educa and Ecuador TV, among which the documentary series Ecuador de Fiesta (photography), the documentary series I am (awarded with the hummingbird award 2015), I am a Woman (TAL awards), I am made in Ecuador (reconstruction stories), Olympic Values, among others. “Con mi corazón en Yambo”, is her first documentary feature film as a director, which has won several national and international awards and recognitions.
